Which resort should I choose to stay at in Playa Del Carmen Mexico?

We are planning a trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for June and cannot decide on which resort to book. I have narrowed it down to two choices: Catalonia Playa Maroma and Grand Coco Bay. Does anyone know anything about either one of these? I have read countless reviews on both and they seem about the same. If you had to choose between the two of them, which one? Thanks!

1. I would go with the one that rates higher on TripAdvisor's popularity index. Catalonia Playa Maroma is at number 60 out of 189 hotels. And Grand Coco Bay is at number 78. Click the link below.
2. www.tripadvisor.com was a life saver for me. I just got back from Playa del Carmen yesterday. I highly recommend the Riu resorts. They are all on the same street. We stayed at Riu Playcar but visited all of the others. They were AMAZING!
