What is the best hotel in Antigua? My boyfriend and I are planning a vacation in October of this year and can't seem to figure out which hotel to stay in. We would like all-inclusive and are willing to spend the money for a good place but nothing seems that great. Does anyone have any suggestions that has been to Antigua? Also, we looked into Sandals but we are reading such mixed reviews. Has anyone been there? If so, how was it? Thanks for your help!

Does anyone know hotels similar to this one? Sandals Grande Antigua? We are planning on having a beach wedding...and only inviting our parents. We love this hotel, because of the private suites with their our pools...but it's a little pricey. Does anyone have an other suggestions with similar suites? Any where hot and sunny would be best! My essay on the environmental impacts of tourism in the Caribbean :D? I study Tourism in school :) Tell me what you think :) I need to tweek __________________________________________________________ Tourism in the Caribbean has grown rapidly since 1978, when families from all over the world enjoy traveling to the beautiful, tranquil Caribbean islands for a warm, fun holiday. Many Caribbean islands experienced a boom in tourism ‘by accident’ meaning that many Caribbean countries were not prepared for a rapid increase in food, water, electricity and land consumption. Tourism in the Caribbean had began to damage local ecosystems, the increased demand for electricity, seafood and water had caused prices for these resources to reach record high levels of price. The countries of Antigua, St. Kitts, Barbuda, St. Nevis and Barbados have been listed as “water scarce” due to the large consumptions due mainly to tourist resorts, which use approximately five to ten times more water than the Caribbean’s residential areas. Tourism has also caused a large increase in pollution, hotels in Jamaica and The Bahamas have recently been fined by Uebersax due to producing ‘high fecal pollution’ and now, as a result of this, the countries are being encouraged to discourage tourism for a short while until pollution levels decrease. ‘Power tourism’ in the Caribbean has caused hotel groups to have a higher authority than councils and environmental organizations in some Caribbean countries. For example, Urban Development Corporation wished to build a new 500 rooms complex in Negril, Jamaica, and although several organizations including the local Chamber of Commerce and the Negril Coral Reef Preservation Society wished to delay the construction; until the local sewage plant was upgraded, and the marine area was protected and given park status, work went ahead promptly ignoring these organizations concerns. Caribbean countries are now finding ways to help preserve there environments. Barbados now has began using a ‘reverse osmosis’ technique which produces freshwater from seawater which ultimately should drop the demand on wells and natural coral freshwater resources. Other countries are now using solar, wind, and biomass energy to reduce their there levels of imported oils from abroad ‘Caribbean Action For Sustainable Tourism’ has created a plan of action for the tourism industry which contains ten important areas, waste minimization, energy efficiency, conservation and management, management of fresh water resources, waste water management, hazardous substances transport, land-use planning and management, design for sustainable tourism. It is the organizations hope that this plan will be applied to all resorts in the Caribbean and will help preserve the delicate ecosystem that has been destroyed by tourists. Tourism in the Caribbean has also affected, and destroyed wildlife. Mainly due to new creatures being introduced to the countries and competing for food and habitat. Jamaica has the largest number of endangered animals in the Caribbean at 254, in 1872 Indian mongoose where imported to Jamaica to help control the number of rats in local sugarcane fields, the mongoose is now accountable for the extinction of five species. Soon after the mongoose’s arrival to Jamaica, it spread to other Caribbean islands and has also affected and endangered the wildlife in these countries. A major part of the Caribbean tourism industry is through cruise ships. Cruise ships leave large amounts of pollution in the Caribbean ecosystem every year, ships also dump large amounts a waste, sometimes illegally, into the Caribbean Sea to which has damaging effects to coral reefs and marine wildlife. The Caribbean had made several lawsuits towards cruise lines for ‘illegal, environmentally unsafe actions’, for example, Princess Cruises was fined millions of dollars in the 1990’s when passengers videotaped ‘plastic garbage bags being dumped into the sea’ and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines was fined $27 million when a Coast Guard took videotapes of oil pouring out of a Sovereign of the Seas ship in Puerto Rico. Cruise ship pollution is now currently being monitored and regulated by the MARPOL to ensure all waste is disposed of properly; thereby protecting the local environment.

Should I have been more generous? So, my ex and I decided to go to Florida for vacation. His sister and brother in law told us that we could not get a better deal than the one we had that day (which is not true) and my ex told me that he didn't have money but will give me money back when he gets the next paycheck. I said that we should wait until he gets the paycheck and also shop around a bit more for better plane tickets and hotels and he got mad saying that I will never help him when he needs it. Then he went off to Antigua for medical school and his mother told me to leave him alone because I am a "bad person" after I bought him a laptop (that she kept insisting on giving me half of the money back for). Then he didn't finish the school and came back and his sister ended up paying for his tuition and the only way she got that money was because her husband sued his employee for something. After all this, I am still the bad person because I didn't buy him plane tickets to florida and when I drove him around town to get stuff for school, he was staring at all the women and I got mad. He told me to leave his stuff at his house and then leave. I left his stuff in the parking lot and his sister and mother e-mailed me asking me what kind of person I was to leave his stuff in the parking lot (which I had went back to get). At the end of the day, I'm not sure if I was the bad person or if I was taken for a fool. I know that his mother and sister did not approve of me because I was not Bosnian but they would never admit to it because they didn't want to seem "racist", but I bought my ex gifts and he called them cheap (and he bought all my gifts from walmart or the grocery store). His mother said that if he's going to have a daughter in law, she must speak bosnian. It really seemed like once he went off to medical school (a medical school that accepts everyone because it's a money making business) him and his mother all thought that I was supposed to be tossed aside like a piece of trash. I'm still annoyed even though this happened last year. Should I have been more generous or less stupid?

Should I stay or should I go? My friend is getting married in Jamaica next year and despite being terrified of flying I was encouraged to go with my husband and eventually booked up to join them for a week. I was initially very excited and counting down the days but for a while now I had a lingering bad feeling about the whole trip, which I am sure has not been helped by the recent tragic events in Antigua. We have two children who will be staying with my parents while we go away. I keep having 'flashes' of them being left parentless and it takes my breath away. I am not sure if it is the flights that are the problems, being so far away from my children or the fact that Jamica has a serious problem with violent crime. We have been told not to leave the complex and while this would suit some people, I am sure it will drive me stir crazy. Jamaica is a place that we will never go to again and I don't see the point of going all that way if the only things to be seen are the beach and the hotel. I have called the holiday company and they told me that if I cancelled now we would lose the deposit, and the longer we leave it to cancel the more money we would have to pay. I honestly think i want to cancel and would have done by now except fo one detail...what the hell do I do about my friend? She is looking forward to going with us, although her entire family are going so she won't be left alone. I am sure she would be very upset if we cancelled. We chose antigua because although it is touristic, it's not the most popular island in the caribbean and we choose this particular resort because it is small and not a change. But it seems like they never answer my e-mails with in, what I believe to be a reasonable time; the next day. Yesterday I sent them an e-mail checking availability and I didn't get an answer yet. I called the resort and they said that there is one person who is in charge on reservation and that she was gone for the day. Last time I sent them an e-mail I didn't get a response for about 2 or 3 days. Should I be concerned. Is this a reason to try to find a different hotel for our party of 15 people and our wedding location???

Going to Fuerteventura? My partner and i have been together for 16yrs and this is our first holiday together abroad PLUS our first holiday without our 3 kids (their all going to disney paris with partners parents).... We have booked into Castillo San Jorge - Antigua & Suites for 6 nights S/C at the end of october. Looking for Small, Beachfront All-inclusive? We stayed at Galley Bay for our honeymoon last December and loved it! It is the perfect small intimate all inclusive resort. We liked that it was adults only but that's not a must. We also loved that we were RIGHT on the beach. Now we are looking same type of hotel on another island would be ideal! (Nothing wrong with that Antigua, we would just like to see something different.) Would still like an all inclusive. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Should I go to San Diego or not? Every year my parents and I go to Pacific Beach and stay at this really nice hotel that I am in love with. This year the hotel got even more expensive and my parents won't pay it. They booked us at some nasty hotel not even right on the beach. I told them they could go and I'd be fine with staying here, but for some reason they won't go without me! My sister started staying home alone when we went on vacation when she was 15! I'm 16 and they won't let me! I don't really like the beach in San Diego especially because since last summer when I was there I've been to Puerto Vallarta, San Juan, Tortola, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Thomas, and Costa del Sol in Spain. This beach is really going to seem like absolute shitttt. I prefer to just relax by the pool at the nice hotel with the good atmosphere right ON the beach. This other hotel isn't even on the beach. Can someone please help me with this Spanish? For my Spanish oral, I have to include the following: 1. What type of Holiday you prefer 2. Where you have been recently 3. What the accomodation was like 4. A description of the area you visited 5. A typical day 6. Where you intend to go for a future holiday I have written the oral (i just have to memorize it) but there are some points I am a little confused on. In class, we have learnt the preterite past tense but we have also learnt the one using an auxilary verb (e.g "ha salido" for "has left".) For our oral, the teacher wants us to include the auxilary tense. However, when I asked my teacher the difference between the two tenses and when to use them she said that she would tell me privately because she didn't think the whole class would benefit from the explanation. When she gave me the explanation she also said that for this oral it would actually be incorrect to use the auxilary tense but it the exam board syas that it is okay to use the tense in this instance as it is part of our curriculum to learn it. Well, now I have written my oral and but I tried to use both tenses instead and I tried to use them correctly. First year anniversary, Where to go? We live in Central FL and we went to Sandals Antigua Resort for our honeymoon. Now our first year anniversary is coming up in October and I would like to go somewhere for a long weekend. We could stay in FL or travel. Help with choosing wedding destination please? Hope to get married next April (2010). There will be 12 of us flying out including my niece and nephew who will be 6 and 3. We fancy getting married in a gorgeous resort (which accepts children but not too family orientated) and one that is all inclusive. We would like to spend a week at the hotel we get married at with all the family and we would like to be close to USA or somewhere different to allow us to go spend another 2 weeks alone for our honeymoon. I guess it doesnt have to be near USA if you know of a place that is fairly nearby to where we are getting married but that has 5 star luxury and lots to do. Obviously the place that me and my then husband will go to for our honeymoon can be adults only. I have looked at Mexico but cant find anything suitable. Looking at Bahamas there arent a lot of 5 star all inclusive resorts. Atlantis is great but not all inc. Antigua doesnt seem overly great and mauritius is expensive and not near anywhere for us to jet off anywhere without having to spend thousands. There is not much by way of entertainment. My fiance doesnt want to marry in USA. He doesnt know why, he just doesnt. Please please please please help

how on earth do you make this wedding decision? we are newly engaged & before we start telling everyone about the date and what we want we need to make this big decision (because we are affriad of hurting some peoples feelings) ok so me & my fiancee are the small intimate romantic wedding type and our dream wedding is on a beach in Jamaica or Antigua & we paying for it ourselves & dont have much money, we've found wedding packages for those places that are very affordable and romantic (around 3000pounds including the hotel, food, wedding ceromony etc...) and we want only our parents (though i wouldnt mind my sisters coming if they could afford it but we dont want to invite his sister!) now the alternative: i dont want to upset my sisters, i dont know how much they would understand not been invited (though my sister had her wedding abroad 3years ago and cost my dad a fourtune to get us all there, but she would probably tell me i have to have it at home because they cant afford it, which isnt fair because my dad couldnt afford it really but she still wanted it abroad) and we would have to invite loads more people (including his evil sister & we cant just not invite to a wedding if its down the road his mum would throw a fit!!!) but a bigish wedding at home just isnt us, we would be doing it there for everyone else not us and i think our wedding should be perfect for us, not for everyone else. and we cant really afford that at all so we would be spending most the money on the party & then have a cheap honeymoon!!! has anyone else had this delema? also we are already having to wait 2more years to get married to save up for the abroad wedding, if we have it at home we will probably have to wait longer and we dont wont that, but we dont want to hurt peoples feelings. its all very stomach churning! how do we even start to think about what is best? any advice please?

Honeymoon Advice Please - I am trying to decide if i want to go to Maui or to a Sandals Resort in St. Lucia.? Hi. I am going to get married next summer and i am trying to decide where i want to go for my honeymoon. I can either go to Maui, Hawaii and stay at the Four Seasons Hotel. Or i can go to St. Lucia or Antigua and stay at an All - Inclusive Sandals Resort. They both sound good to me therefore i cant decide which one would be best. caribbean Holiday 2009? i live in the uk and am wondering if anyoneknows the best place to get the following deal i would like to go to the caribbean , (any part-jamacia , bahamas, dominican republic , barbados, antigua, etc etc , basically anywhere) i want to stay for 12 to 14 days , flying from manchester , with myself , partner , 2 kids aged 4 and one , (but would like baby to have seat due to long flight) also want all inclusive, and a good hotel within walking distance of the beach not too bothered what month but thinking some time after march i have a budget of £2000 max (two thousand) uk only travel agents or web sites please can this be done , do places offer child free places ?
